Solar Power, an Alternative Energy

While many times we curse the sun because it's too hot, many other times we're blessing it as a renewable alternate energy source.

Harnessing the sun's energy is becoming big business, as everyone is jumping on the Green bandwagon. Believe it or not, there are whole homes that are being built using only the sun's energy to power them. On top of that, many cars are trying to become Solar as well, basically, in those sunny areas you can create your own energy source through wind and sun.

It's vitally important that we discover new ways to create energy for our transportation and home living needs. The world is turning brown as we have changed our global weather patterns, created holes in our atmosphere, and created a brown smog like substance that settles over our metropolises. We need to seriously consider alternate energy sources as a way to not only clean up our world, but to also improve the world that our children will grow up in.

Solar energy panels store the sun's heat, and then a bank of converters converts it into electrical pulses. These electrical pulses are then stored in a bank of batteries that are attached to your home's electrical panel. It actually is no different from any other electricity that comes to the wires into your home. It's just that as a rule, once you've paid for the system, it's free.

You don't necessarily have to live in the Sun Belt in order to take advantage of solar power. Even in Alaska they are taking advantage of the power generated from the sun's heat and using it to turn it into readily usable electricity. It helps if you have a sunny climate as you'll receive more energy from the sun, but even those in cloudy climes have the ability to take advantage of solar energy.

Wind energy is another form of alternative energy that's being used on a regular basis. Public knowledge is increasing as far as wind energy these days, and you'll see wind farms dotting the landscape. You need at least 10 mph wind on a regular basis in order to take advantage of the wind blowing through your place. But any amount of electricity generated from a renewable and free source is going to decrease your dependency on traditional sources.

If you're interested in solar power for your home or business, contact the energy Department in your area, look into your conservation District, and jump on the Internet. The initial cost of setting up a solar system can seem rather large at first, but if you look at the reduction in your energy bills over a period of time, eventually you'll have free energy to use at your disposal.
